Are you going away, or are you going to be laid up for a while?

It is a good idea to have someone mind your hives if you are away or unable to do so. And to assist you and the hive minder with planning, we have put together some guidelines which are available for members on the resources page.

Article from Beeculture, The Magazine of American Beekeeping 12/9/17

Large scale biosecurity checks of honey bee hives has found signs of American foulbrood.

Agriculture Victoria undertook biosecurity check of bee hives from Victoria, NSW and Queensland as more than 4.2 billion bees were transported to Victoria’s north west to pollinate almond blossoms.

More than 1000 hives were audited and more than 100 were found to have clinical signs of American foulbrood.

Great to see hives on site and a start to develop the apiary. This will be a very important asset for the club for teaching and hands on experience for members.

On another matter I congratulate all the new committee on their election and feel confident the club will really develop under their stewardship.

As Andrew pointed out during his Secretary report we have a large number of members who have not listed their bee registration number on their member profile. I remind all members that it is now a requirement that all beekeepers be registered. Please ensure your registration is completed.

Today we moved the club hives to their new home overlooking the St John's community garden. An exciting development!
