Your first experience with bees can be quite daunting. It can be a thrilling experience, one that you will always remember.

Taking a beginners course is an ideal way to start and ideally before your bees arrive.  We will teach you to understand what's going on with your bees and give you your first experiences in controlled and calm environment.

You will love it, we've had lots of positive feedback. The club runs several beginners courses each year. Details of the next event can be found here on the website (events tab).

We also recommend joining a club - there are many benefits including mentoring and advice. Frequently members are able to assist in obtaining bees and other equipment.

We often get enquiries from folks who would like to have someone bring a hive onto their property. There are several professional beekeepers that provide this service for a fee.  There may be a nearby club member who is willing to make such an arrangement in exchange for a share of the honey.  Any negotiation would be private between you. If you send us an email, we are happy to pass it on to members.

We had an 11 year old do the course and she loved it.   We are very keen to encourage juniors.  So if you are planning to come yourself, then bring them along.  Be aware that of necessity you have to listen to a fair bit of information, so be prepared for this.   Contact us to arrange an appropriate registration fee which will depend on their age.
