April 2023: Monthly Meeting and Annual Honey Competition

We welcome back speaker Ally Driessen, Biosecurity Officer from Agriculture Victoria.

Australia has had a tense time since the Varroa mite was found in Newcastle NSW last June and Ally has been at the forefront of biosecurity efforts to deal with the incursion. 

We look forward to her insights and advice and we welcome your questions on the Varroa situation on the night to see what we can do to help.

Allow extra time when arriving to submit your competition entries at this month’s meeting.

Categories include:

Light/medium/dark honey (the judges will categorise the honey)

Creamed honey

Honeycomb

Beeswax

Mead/honey beverage

Honey cakes/biscuits/slices

Bee & beekeeping related photos (Emailed to secretary@beekeepers.org.au before Thursday’s meeting). Cut off point for entry Midnight Wednesday 19/04/2023

We will all have an opportunity to taste the competition entries at the end of the night.
