Beekeeping with the Flow Hive: an introductory workshop on the fundamentals of bees, beekeeping and the use of the Flow Hive.

Registration sold out in less than a day!  If you  missed out on a place, please add yourself to the waiting list.  A second course has been scheduled for May 7th and 8th and registration for this will be available from 1800 on 30/3/16. 

A 2 day course taught by the experienced team of club educators, boosted with contributions from co- inventor Stuart Anderson who will host the Sunday afternoon session specifically focused on the Flow Hive.


The course involves both theory sessions and hands on practical bee hive work together with interactive question and answer sessions.  It is aimed at those people who have purchased Flow Hives but have little or no experience in keeping bees.

The course will include modules on:

  • Introduction to beekeeping
  • Biology of the Bee
  • Practical lessons eg lighting a smoker, Inspecting the hive, hiving a swarm
  • Disease and pests of bees
  • Keeping bees responsibly; the Apiary Code of Practice
  • The Flow Hive and how to use it

The course is to be held at two venues, Mark St Hall, N Fitzroy on Saturday and the Salon, Abbottsford Convent on Sunday. It will run from 9.30am to 5.30pm and tea, coffee and lunches are included in the fee.
