Beekeeping with the Flow Hive: an introductory workshop on the fundamentals of bees, beekeeping and the use of the Flow Hive.

A 2 day course taught by the experienced team of club educators, boosted with contributions from co- inventor Stuart Anderson who will host the Sunday afternoon session specifically focused on the Flow Hive.

The course involves both theory sessions and hands on practical bee hive work together with interactive question and answer sessions.  It is aimed at those people who have purchased Flow Hives but have little or no experience in keeping bees.

The course will include modules on:

  • Introduction to beekeeping
  • Biology of the Bee
  • Practical lessons eg lighting a smoker, Inspecting the hive, hiving a swarm
  • Disease and pests of bees
  • Keeping bees responsibly; the Apiary Code of Practice
  • The Flow Hive and how to use it

The course is to be held at Saxon St Community Centre, Brunswick on both Saturday and Sunday. It will run from 9.30am to 5.30pm and tea, coffee and lunches are included in the fee.

Some feedback from the first course

I really valued the knowledge gained and the accumulated wisdom and advice exceeded my expectations. It was wonderful to meet Stuart Anderson and I thought there was a lot jam packed into the course but it gave me the confidence I needed to go to the next level.

The practical sessions were extremely valuable.
I thought the quiz was a great idea

Over all, the workshop was EXCELLENT. The panel were energetic, friendly, informative, enthusiastic and knowledgeable.

LOVED THE course, had an absolute ball, learnt so much, the range of presenters really helped to break up the day and to keep everyone engaged, great content.
I have recommended the course to several people already.
